Volunteering at our schools is an opportunity to interact with students, providing them with the mentorship, support and enrichment they need to succeed.
Spokane Public Schools recruits and trains community members to serve in various volunteer roles. Whether you assist in the classroom, participate in after-school programs, or contribute to special events, your time and talents make a real difference. Here are some of the volunteer opportunities you will find at SPS schools:
Classroom Assistants
Help teachers provide students a dream, access and opportunity inside the classroom.
Field Trip Chaperones
Join students on fun, educational trips outside the classroom.
Music Program Volunteers
Help schools put on the perfect show!
Tutors
Share your expertise and help kids with reading, math, science and more.
Lunch and Recess Volunteer
Help monitor kids as they eat and burn off energy outside.
School Clubs
Help kids go beyond the classroom as they engage in real life activities.
Robotics, CyberPatriot and Lego League volunteers
Teach kids the wonders of STEM education.
Parent Group/Booster Club
Be among the biggest cheerleaders of your school by giving back to students and staff.
Library Helper
Libraries are more than books nowadays - help kids explore literature and non-fiction while they also learn video editing, computer design, electric circuits and more.
Life Center (Bite2Go)
Helps kids and families access food donations.
Intramural Sports
Help kids be active with fun after school sports.
Volunteer Coaching (secondary schools only)
Be a mentor to kids on the field or on the court.

Reading Programs
Help kids discover the joy of reading and watch them develop their skills.
Mentors
Simply be there for a student who needs a positive influence in their life.
Crossing Guard Attendants

Getting Involved is Easy!
To volunteer with SPS, registration is mandatory. Please have the following documents available to upload:
Government-issued identification card
Copies of legal documentation that apply to any dropped or dismissed charges
If volunteering for the EPIC mentorship, complete the EPIC Mentoring application.
Need-to-Knows:
The volunteer application permits a thorough criminal history review through the Washington State Patrol and other criminal databases.
Applications can take three to seven days for processing.
Schools will be notified once you have been approved.
